Privacy Policy
How Inkwell handles your data, in plain language.
Last updated October 2026
What we collect
Your account details: the name and email address you sign up with, and the password that protects your account. The content you write: everything you enter into a résumé or cover letter, including your contact details, roles, education, skills and projects. Usage records: how many AI rewrites you have used, so the free monthly allowance can be counted. Payment records: which plan you bought, its status, and the dates involved.
How we use it
To run the editor and show you your own documents. To produce the writing you ask for: when you press an AI button, the text you asked us to improve is sent to our AI provider and used only to generate that draft — never to train anything, and never shown to anyone else. To manage your subscription and any billing records you ask about. And to answer you when you write to us through the contact form.
Payments
Pro subscriptions are processed by Base44 Payments on our behalf. Your card details are entered on the payment provider’s checkout page and are handled entirely by them — Inkwell never sees or stores your card number. We receive confirmation of the plan, the amount and the status of the payment, which is what unlocks Pro in your account.
Who can see your documents
Only you. Résumés and cover letters are stored against your account and are not visible to other users, employers or recruiters. We do not read them, except in the one case where you send us a message about a problem with a specific document and we need to look at it to help.
What we share, and what we never do
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Like every online service we rely on a small number of providers who process data strictly on our instructions: the platform that hosts the app and its database, the AI provider that generates drafts, the payment provider that processes subscriptions, and an email service that sends account messages. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it, and how to remove it
Your documents are kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete an individual résumé or cover letter at any time from your dashboard, and you can delete your whole account from the upgrade page — doing so removes your documents and your usage records. Minimal payment records are kept for as long as we are required to keep them for accounting and tax purposes.
Cookies and local storage
We use the storage your browser already provides to keep you signed in and to remember whether you prefer light or dark mode. There is no advertising tracking and no third-party analytics that follows you around the web.
Your choices
You can edit or export your documents at any time while your account is open, and delete them whenever you like. If you want a copy of what we hold about you, or want something corrected, write to us through the contact form and we will deal with it.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Continuing to use Inkwell after an update means the new version applies.
